V Cinema and Religion Exhibition
The V Mostra presents the rites of passage which comprehend human life: baptism for birth and entering religion, rite of adulthood for girls and boys, initiation rites for those who enter religion as sacerdotal life and rites of death. Rite is also a frequent practice marking short time periods in religion traditions: the Mess every 7 days of Christians, the Shabbat of Jews, the 5 daily prayers of Muslims, etc. This primordial relationship of the rite origins has been also represented by the Japanese tradition of celebrating the cherry trees blossom at the film "As Irmãs Makioka" ("The Makioka sisters"). Another example was a film produced by Brazilian-Indians Xavantes themselves at the documentary "Wai'aRini the power of the dream" of the Xavante Indian Tserewahú. At this V Mostra we have started a partnership with the Trento Religion Today Film Festival bringing 3 films to be shown in the V Mostra and sending films of Brazilian directors to Italy.
